It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Bradley Laverne Ruonavaara, who passed away peacefully on September 23, 2025, at the age of 79 in Medford, Oregon.
Bradley was born on August 6, 1946, in Fort Bragg, California, and was raised in Healdsburg, California, where he graduated from Healdsburg High School in 1965. Shortly after, he served in the United States Navy from 1965 to 1967, including active duty in the Vietnam War. After the heartbreaking loss of his brother (Robert) in 1967, Bradley returned home as the family’s only surviving son — a responsibility he carried with quiet strength and dignity.
After his service, he spent time back in Healdsburg before eventually settling in Grants Pass, Oregon, where he would spend the rest of his life. A hardworking man, Bradley worked as a professional truck driver, a career that matched his love for the open road and sense of independence. His nieces and nephews have fond memories of riding along with him in his semi-trucks on short hauls, creating lasting bonds and unforgettable childhood adventures.
Bradley was married to Janice (Jan) for 51 years. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love and a lifetime of shared memories.
Bradley had a deep love of the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, which he enjoyed sharing with his nephews and brother-in-law. He was also an avid baseball fan and cherished the times spent telling stories and sharing laughs with his nephews — moments that created lasting bonds and joyful memories.
Bradley was preceded in death by his parents — Mother Ruth Ruonavaara (2000) and Father John “Rusty” Ruonavaara (1974) — as well as his beloved brother.
He is survived by his wife Janice, his loving sister Sheila (Betts) and brother-in-law Dennis, and his sister and brother-in-law Yvonne and Jerry. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly and who held a special place in his heart.
Bradley will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering loyalty, and deep love for his family. He was a dedicated truck driver, a loving husband, brother, and uncle, known for his contagious smile and chuckle that brightened our lives.
His memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
May he rest in peace.
Private services will be held at a later date.
