Charles Duran Guerra

Charles D. Guerra of Grants Pass died on Friday, October 27, 2023. He was 93 years old. Charles was born April 28, 1930, in Los Angeles, California, to Isadora (Lola) and Carlos Guerra.

He joined the U.S. Air Force on July 12, 1951, and remained on active duty until his honorable discharge on July 15, 1955. After his discharge, Charles continued working with the U.S. Air Force as a civil servant until his retirement in 1991. As a civil servant, he was stationed at Edwards Air Force Base in California, Spain, Germany, and Ohio.

Charles married Mary Levario in November of 1952. They raised four children together until 1976. Later, Charles married Renate Bachmann in December of 1979. Together they moved to Grants Pass, Oregon the year he retired.

He is survived by his wife: Renate Guerra, his sister; Susanna Kittlas, his children; Leonard Guerra (wife Pam), Jeannette Baxter (husband Terry), Laura Guerra, Charles C. Guerra (wife Bridget) and Karina Bachmann; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Charles was a loving, caring, and generous man, husband, and father, and was always so proud of all his children. He had many good friends here and loved living in Grants Pass. He will be missed dearly.

A gathering of remembrance will be held at Stephens Family Chapel, 1629 Williams Hwy., Grants Pass, on November 17, 2023 at 4:00 PM
