Grants Pass

Dawn Renee Parkhurst, 59, of Grants Pass OR, died of a cardiac event on the morning of March 18, 2024 surrounded by family and friends.
Born in Palo Alto, CA to Marvina Arbuckle and Dave Bentz, and step-father Donald McKenzie.
She spent her younger years in Palo Alto surrounded by beloved extended family, before moving to southern Oregon with her immediate family in 1981.
Just after high school, she met the man she would marry in 1984 and have 2 children with before divorcing. She was an amazing single mother for many years, "adopting" many bonus children as she learned from her own mom. Working many jobs, she put herself through college and received her Associate Degree of General Studies in Social Science. With this degree, she was able to work with children in need. She transitioned to a position at Josephine Memorial Hospital, which started a long relationship with Asante. In May of 1996, she took a part time job helping her brother with his new business, Old American Insurance, and then became the full time office manager in 2001. Dawn was very proud of her 28 year career with Old American. That same year, she had her third child with long time partner and friend, Jim Stevens. Dawn was more proud of her children than anything else in her life.
Dawn was preceded in death by her brother Danny Bentz, father Dave Bentz, and step-father Don McKenzie.
She is survived by her mother Marvina Arbuckle, brother Dale Bentz, children Danielle Parkhurst, Chris Parkhurst, and Jamie Stevens, grandson Seamus Parker, and countless others she took into her heart and home.
