Derek Anton Varga

On July 28, 2025, Derek Anton Varga passed away peacefully at his home in Grants Pass, Oregon. He was born September 26, 1974, in Grants Pass to Marvin J. and Shirley A. Varga.

He graduated from Grants Pass High School in 1993. He then served 4 years in the Marines and 23 years in the Airforce, retiring in 2020 as a Master Sergeant. He took pride in taking care of the airmen that worked with and for him.

He returned home to Grants Pass in 2025 due to illness. Derek enjoyed collecting baseball cards, traveling to different countries, hunting, and spending time with his nephew, Anthony Varga, and niece, Jennifer Varga, as well as Anthony's children, Allison and Calvin.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother. He is survived by Dennis (Sheryl) Varga of Grants Pass, Debra Rund of Grants Pass, aunt Louise Zwan of Medford, aunt Barbara Collins of Roseburg, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Derek was loved by many, and had several friends since childhood and his military service visit and call in his final weeks.

Graveside services will be at Wilderville Cemetery on August 9, 2025 at 11am, with Pastor Steve Burman officiating. All are welcome to attend.
