Cave Junction

Marie Orr (Ellis Marie Crain Orr) passed away at home with family by her side on December 21, 2023 at the age of 88.

Marie is survived by her brother Donald Crain, and her three children: Leonard Orr and his wife Rosalva, Sharon Orr Blalack and her husband David, and Ronald Orr and life partner Kinny. She is also survived by her four grandchildren Jason, Michael, Charles, and Zachery, along with six great-grandchildren.

Marie was born to Mildred and Noble Crain on September 3, 1935 in Idabel, Oklahoma. Marie movied with her family to Northern California when she was 18 months old, soon to settle in Crescent City in 1942.

From the age of 7 years old, Marie attended local schools, graduating from Del Norte High School in the class of 1954. This was a big year for Marie as she also married Darrel Orr, her husband of 53 years. Marie and Darrel were happily married until his passing in 2007.

During her adult years, along with raising three children, she also worked as a teaching assistant as Bess Maxwell Elementary School. In 1969, Marie and Darrel ventured into the business world by building a small neighborhood grocery store, "Orr's Market". Marie and Darrel successfully owned and operated the market until 1977.

Marie and Darrel moved to Brookings, Oregon in 1986. Once in Brookings, Marie went to work for Ray's Grocery Store as a deli assistant. In 2001, Marie and Darrel retired to Cave Junction, Oregon, where they lived until their passing. Once living in Cave Junction, Marie's home church became the Takilma Bible Church where she is survived by many friends. Many years were also spent by Marie caring for her husband and mother during illnesses they suffered until their passing.

Marie, our mom and grandma, will always reside with us, will always be loved by us, will always be cherished by us, and will always be remembered by us.
