Gay Dean Jones
June 8, 1941 - October 27, 2025

Gay Dean Jones, lovingly known as "Papa" to many, passed away at his home on October 27, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was 84 years old.

Gay was born in Kansas and moved to Oregon at the age of 12. He graduated from Crater Lake High School in 1959 and immediately enlisted in the United States Navy to serve his country. He was stationed in San Diego, California, aboard the USS Lexington, an attack carrier, and served on standby during the Laotian Crisis.

While in San Diego, Gay met the love of his life, Patricia. They were married in 1962 and made their home in Southern California. Gay worked as an aerospace engineer for McDonnell Douglas until his retirement in 1998. After retiring, Gay and Patricia returned to Grants Pass, Oregon, where they enjoyed their later years together.

Gay and Patricia had two children, Tami Jones and Greg Jones. Gay had a deep love for the outdoors and found joy in fishing, boating, golfing, and camping-activities that brought him peace and happiness throughout his life.

Gay is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patricia Jones; his son, Greg Jones; his sisters, Shirley Beck and Debbie Grey. His son Greg Jones and his wife Brittany Jones had 6 children in whom were grandchildren to Gay Jones: Sierra Johnson, Savannah Bragg, Gavin Jones, Anthony Torres, Brooklyn Jones, and Addisyn Jones. He is also survived by his great-grandchild, Payne Bragg.

The family would like to thank all loved ones who helped make Gay's final days comfortable. He will never be forgotten and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

We love you always-Dad, Papa, Husband, and Brother.
