George Edward Plaut was born July 15, 1951, in Redwood City, CA and died January 10, 2026, in Grants Pass, OR. He attended Gunn High School in Palo Alto and Fremont High School in Sunnyvale, CA. He was enlisted in the U.S. Army from 1970-1974 and served tours in Vietnam, Thailand, Okinawa, and South Korea. In Vietnam he managed a large mess hall, cooked on a tugboat, and also worked as a photographer. In 1975, George settled in San Jose and joined National Semiconductor, which offered a training program to returning veterans. This launched his long and successful career in the Silicon Valley computer chip industry.
George loved his family deeply and he was an extremely loyal friend. He also loved photography, music, and good food.
George is survived by Kathy Henry, his devoted wife of 29 years; along with his son Josh; daughter-in-law Alycia; six beautiful grandchildren: Brandon, Hunter, Madison, Trystan, Chloe, and Kaylynn; brother Greg; nephews Christopher and Jason; and nieces Maria, Sarah, and Deborah.
