Helen May Allen, 99, beloved mother and grandmother, passed from this life on April 1, 2020 at her home in Grants Pass, Oregon, just 15 days shy of her 100th birthday. She entered this world on April 16, 1920 in Santa Rosa, California, born to Helen "Nell" Stevens.and Robert Merrithew.
Helen married Glenn Allen in 1941. They made their home in Cloverdale, California until 1960, when they moved to Cedarville, in Modoc County, California. Glenn passed away in 1999.
After suffering a broken leg in 2009, Helen moved to Grants Pass, Oregon, where she resided with her son Jim and his family.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by both of her parents; her stepfather Robert Johnson; brothers Robert Merrithew and Arthur Johnson; and sisters Evelyn Westerman, Ella Norton, and Muriel Pimentel.
She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and wife Vanessa, and Larry and wife Deborah; granddaughters Rebecca and Emily; sister Janet Knodel; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
There will be a family graveside service, and she will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Cedarville Cemetery.
