Jac Van Art passed away December 29, 2021 at Three Rivers Hospital in Grants Pass, Or after a short battle with cancer. He was 69 years old.
Jac was born February 3, 1952 in Grants Pass, Or to Leo and Lois Va Art. He graduated from high school in Tracy, Ca, in 1970. He joined the Navy and was deployed to Vietnam. He later worked for Standard Oil in Battle Mountain, NV. He moved to Ashland, Or and worked as a baker. He moved to Gold Hill, Or in 2000 and retired from Harry and David in 2014.
Jac is survived by three daughters, Janis Williams of Searcy, Ar. Jaymie Van Art-Scott of Heber Springs, Ar and Jennifer Van Art-Hartness of Drasco, Ar, eight grandchildren and several great-granchildren. He is also surived by his brothers, Barney Northcutt (Judy) of Gold Hill, Or, Jim Bristow (Pamela) of Olympia, Wa, Sal Mello (Tammy) of Grants Pass, Or, and one sister, Mary Scaife (Floyd) of Ashland, Or. He was preceded in death by his mother, father and one brother, William Bristow.
Jac was blessed to have many dear friends. He was generous of heart and described as a good friend. Jac lost his home due to a fire in June, 2021. He was blessed by friends, Jon Nordheim and Jay Mattoon who gave him a place to live and treated him like family.
Services will be held January 20, 2022 at the Eagle Point National Cemetery in the shelter room at 1:00 PM. Jim Powlison will be officiating.
Jac was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him. He knew he would soon be in the presence of the Lord.
