James Douglas McCallum

James Douglas McCallum, “Jimmy D”, 74, of Grants Pass, OR, passed away June 8th, 2025 after a long battle with lung and heart-related health problems. He lives on in heaven and in the heart of his wife Heidi Mae. He is also survived by his children Jimmy G and Madison, his grandchildren Jimmy C, Miranda, Cameron, Owen, Marlie, Sterling, and Daphne, and his great grandchildren, James K and Weston. Jimmy D was a man of many hobbies, but he spent most of his life honing his craft as a master mechanic. A true mechanical savant, he started “wrenching” as a teenager, before serving in the Navy in Vietnam from 1969-1972. Upon his arrival back home he spent the next few decades building, racing, and repairing everything from cars to hot rods to dragsters. Before retirement he also worked at Master Brand and Jimmy’s Classic Drive-in. Dad was a man of conviction and generosity, and he left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. He was the most colorful person in our lives, with his own style, and showed us how to make our own paths in life. An intimate gathering of family and close friends will be held on his birthday, July 12th, in Grants Pass followed by the spreading of his ashes at his favorite place, Brookings OR. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Jude Children’s Hospital, a cause dear to Dad’s heart. We find comfort in knowing that Dad's legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love and acceptance he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.Thank you for everything Dad!
