Jerry Wayne Kagay

June 22, 1948 — November 4, 2016

Jerry Wayne Kagay went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 4th. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 20th at 2:30 pm at River Valley Community Church Downtown. Stephens Family Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be sent to the family at stephensfc.com. Contributions can be made to the "Lifeline Ministry" at River Valley Community Church, 405 NE 6th St. in Grants Pass, OR 97526. Jerry was born June 22, 1948 in Harlan, Kentucky. His family moved to Southern California in 1951 where he grew up and went to school. After graduating high school he voluntarily joined the US Air Force. He proudly served in Thailand during the Vietnam War. He married Marjie Young, his high school sweetheart in 1968. They had 3 children and raised them to love the Lord. In 2000, they moved to Grants Pass, OR. Jerry spent a lot of his working career driving buses which he enjoyed so much. He had a passion for old cars. He loved surfing, camping, hunting, traveling, and spending time with his family. He spent much of his time trying to help people throughout the community, motivated by his love for the Lord. In the past few years he has enjoyed helping to pastor the people at River Valley New Hope Church. Survivors include his wife, Marjie, one son, Jeffrey and his wife, Jennifer, two daughters, Janine Bridges and her husband William, and Allison Hampton and her husband Anthony; 9 grandchildren, Jacob, Ben, Alyssa, Amanda, Levi, Andrew, Cassidy, Baylee and Brody; his mother Dorothy Kagay; sister Cynthia Shotwell and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold, and grandson, Aaron.
