John Joseph McLaughlin
John J. McLaughlin 1/19/1942 - 1/31/2021
On Sunday, January 31st, John McLaughlin joined his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for eternity. John is survived by his loving wife of almost 32 years, Jude, daughter Patrice and husband Larry Garrison, sisters Nancy Quinn and Peggy Mortenson, grandsons Brandon and Matthew Corbett, and granddaughter Amy Dole. John also leaves behind dear friends Heidi and Skip Tyler and Patty and husband Ed Floate, in addition to nieces (Dawn, Carla, Michelle, Peggy) nephews (Ken, Brian, Patrick, Steve, Chris), cousins, grandnieces and grandnephews, and many friends. John was preceded in death by his parents Emma (Banks) and John McLaughlin, brother Patrick and sister Noreen.
John was one of a kind and led a most interesting life. Once on a dark path, John truly was lost and then was found. Jesus spoke to John one day, and from that day forward John's path changed. John wrote a book about his journey, A Walk to Freedom. John loved Jesus, his family, and his friends. He loved the outdoors and believed in the virtues instilled by hard work. John was an animal and nature lover. John was intelligent, funny, and witty. He had a great laugh. He was a published author, a loving husband, a hard worker, caring father and grandfather, a great friend, and a mentor to many, who lived to love and serve the Lord. He will be greatly missed.
My grandfather was not always a great man but finding Jesus made him one. I am truly grateful for the time that I was able to share with him. He was the greatest male figure I ever had in my life he taught me how to be a man and the value of a good work ethic. He pushed me to do things that I did not know I was even capable of. I would not be half the man I am today if it were not for the time I got to spend with my grandfather as a young man. He will truly be missed by me and many others. I love you you Grandpa
