John Wehler

John "Jack" G. Wehler, of Grants Pass, Oregon, and formerly of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, July 25, 2026, after a courageous seven-month battle with cancer. He was 84 years old.

Jack was born on January 12, 1942, in North Chicago, Illinois, to the late John J. Wehler and Gertrude E. (Loy) Wehler. He grew up in Wisconsin and graduated from Prairie du Sac High School in 1960. That same year, he enlisted in the United States Army, proudly serving his country until receiving an honorable discharge in 1962. He was in active reserves until 1968.

A dedicated and hardworking man, Jack spent 30 years as a Brick Mason in the Madison, Wisconsin area, where he earned a reputation for skill, reliability, and craftsmanship. After relocating to Grants Pass, Oregon, he continued his lifelong commitment to service and community as a Sales Representative for Schaeffer's Oil, a role he held for 32 years.

Jack lived a life defined by his love for God, his devotion to God's Word, and his deep compassion for people. His servant's heart never stopped giving, and he touched countless lives through acts of kindness and shared his love for God with anyone he spoke with. He was baptized at age 14 at Calvary Baptist Church in Sauk City, Wisconsin, and remained a man of faith throughout his life. He previously attended Applegate Christian Fellowship near Ruch, OR, Trail Christian Fellowship of Eagle Point, OR, and for the past three years he followed Jack Hibbs from Calvary Chapel Church in Chino Hills, CA.

Jack is survived by his children: Billy (Julie) Wehler, Appleton, WI; Brian (Brenda) Wehler, Wisconsin Dells, WI; and Krista (Brian) Arnold, Sun Prairie, WI.

He is also survived by his grandchildren: Jacob (Laura) Wehler, David, Greg, Thor, Austin, Hannah (Austin) Klang, Tyler, and Lexi, along with many nieces and nephews.

Jack is survived by his sisters: Peggy Haskins, Barbara Zitnick, Linda Moller, and Mary Williams, and his sister-in-law Sally Wehler. He is also survived by his brother Mike (Judy) Wehler and brother-in-law David Williams.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Rob Wehler; and brothers-in-law John Haskins, Mike Zitnick, and Fred Glasgow.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a memorial service on September 19, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Trail Christian Fellowship Church, 8881 Hwy 62, Eagle Point, OR. Burial will take place at a later date at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Baraboo, Wisconsin.
