Grants Pass

Joyce Arlene Baker, 81, passed away June 19, 2025, in her Grants Pass home, with her family at her side. She was born September 21, 1943, in Portland, Oregon, to Jesse Ivan and Lillian Ruth Stout. She married Roy Baker in 1972, and together, they raised four daughters. She and her husband led the Redwood Ranchero's 4-H Swine Club in the 70s. She worked at Champion Products as a screen printer and worked several different operational positions in local plywood mills. Joyce and her husband retired from Eugene Grocery Outlet as operators and settled back in Grants Pass, where she lived out the rest of her life. Joyce was a fun-loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved to laugh and created a stir during family photos by starting her butt-pinching antics and suggesting we go skinny dipping. She would willingly have her hand in any food fight or water fight. She loved her pets, and she led her daughters by example to love all of God's animals. Great memories are shared of the many family fishing trips in Brookings, Oregon, where she was our skilled boat captain. She was always eager to go on road trips to Laughlin, Nevada and Oatman, Arizona to see the donkeys on Route 66. She had a special nack for beating the slot machines no matter where she went. At home, you could often find her re-watching her favorite movie, Sleepless in Seattle. She is survived by her husband Roy, daughters Brenda Kortt, Debbie Bland, Cindy Heryford (Garret), grandchildren Robert Kortt (Paige), Christine Kortt (Leif), Jason Bland (Randi), Eric Bland (Brittney), Cory Vierra (Katrina), Steven Vierra, Shanna McCurdy (Chris), Jessica Celeridad, and Sarah Heryford and many great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, daughter Sherry Howard, brother Edwin Stout, and sister Ruthie Rossiter. She was fully loved and will be greatly missed by all.

A viewing will be held on Friday, June 27, at Stephens Family Chapel from 3:30-5:30 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Satuday, June 28, 10:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Grants Pass.
