Leo Berg, age 78, of Grants Pass, OR, passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2016.Leo was born on May 31, 1937, in Germany to Richard and Elfreida Berg. The family immigrated to the United States in 1950 where they settled on a farm at the corner of Boundary Lane and Leonard Road. Leo attended Grants Pass High School where he played football and trumpet in the band.He became an Army Paratrooper in 1955 and did an overseas tour in Korea. After his honorable discharge as a Paratrooper, he joined the Army Reserves. In 1961, he married Barbara Prichett and settled down to raise a family.Leo lived a full life and was well known in the community. People know him as a: Beloved family member, butcher, livestock buyer, Hellgate jetboat driver, auctioneer, pilot, fisherman and hunter, veteran, and as a dear friend to many. He was more than a small business owner, as he was involved with and supported many different civic activities such as: Jaycees, 4-H, and the Grants Pass Boys & Girls Club, to name just a few.He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Heidi Morgan and Theresia Antonio; and an infant son, Danny.Leo is survived by his brother, Paul Berg; sisters, Helen Vandecoevering, Hilde DeWhitt, Elizabeth Morgan, and Christine Driskell; daughters, Vickie Knowlton and Deb Berg; grandchildren, Danielle Church, Ashley Allaire, and Nate Whisenhunt; and many great-grandchildren.A Celebration of Leo's Life will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2016, at Kudlac Hereford Ranch at 3290 Lower River Rd., Grants Pass starting at 3:00 p.m. Please join us in your barn casual attire and share your stories of this humble and kind man's life.Memorial donations can be made to the Grants Pass Boys & Girls Club.
