Mary Jane Hobbs

March 28, 1931 — November 2, 2022

Mary Jane Lebow Hobbs age 91, went to meet with the Lord on Wednesday, November 2, 2022.

 

Jane was born March 28, 1931 in Bolivar, Missouri to William and Evah Hastings. Her parents moved to Santa Paula, California when she was a small child. She attended Santa Paula schools. Later attending Bakersfield College.

 

She married Cecil Lebow and lived in Plainview, Texas where her 2 sons were born, Tag and Richard. After the death of her husband, she returned to California to be near her parents.

 

While attending Bakersfield College she met and married John Hobbs. From that marriage came one daughter, Becky. After the end of that marriage Jane moved to Dinuba, California and worked various jobs having two jobs at a time in order to support her family.

 

She worked at Dinuba Lanes, Reedley Lanes, The Bear Club and for 44 years as office manager for Valley Labor Service under 3 different managements. She truly loved her job and co-workers. Her bosses, Randy DeLeon as well as Salvador Romero treated her as family. When Jane became semi-retired, she spent her summers working in California and the winters in her Oregon home with her sons and daughter.

Jane loved her work, her home, her children, and her Lord. She spent many happy hours in worship. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Eagle Point, Oregon. She loved camping, gardening, and bowling in her younger years. The later years of her life she spent many hours crocheting, baking, and making jellies and jams. She would sell her various baked goods at the local community market and bazaars. She became known as "The Cookie Lady". Watching her daughter Becky and granddaughter Joli play softball was another favorite activity.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Willeen Hasler and Billie Samples, a brother, Stanley Hastings, her husband, C.O. Lebow and son Richard Lebow.

She is survived by her brother Sidney Hastings, her eldest son, C.O. "Tag" Lebow, daughter Becky Hobbs, grandchildren, Cecily (Donny) Boles, Eric (Jennifer) Lebow, and Joli (Kyle Wright) Hobbs, 8 great-grandchildren and one more on the way in May.

Jane will be remembered most for her beautiful smile and kind heart.

 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at 3:00 PM at the Church of the Nazarene, 400 Stevens Rd, Eagle Point, Oregon followed by a pot-luck style reception.
