Richard L. Flickinger

Richard Lee Flickinger, 81, of Grants Pass, OR died Friday, March 2, 2018 of congestive heart failure at Mountain Springs Home. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 10th at 11 a.m. at River Valley Community Church at the Downtown Campus. Memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan's Purse at samaritanspurse.org and to Water for Life, James Robison at lifetoday.org. Richard (Dick) also known as "Flick" was born June 1, 1936 in Lanark, Illinois to Ralph and Marie Flickinger. He was raised on a farm with his parents and 4 siblings. He attended Wheaton College in IL where he graduated in 1957 with a degree in Business and Economics. On Aug. 30, 1957, Richard married Marilyn Jean Fair of Akron, Ohio. He served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army while he made his home in the Wheaton area for 20 years where he and Marilyn raised their family. He worked as an accountant and started a school bus business, Rich Lee Vans that transported special needs children. He was an active member at Wheaton Evangelical Free Church. Richard and Marilyn settled in Grants Pass, Oregon in 1984 where he served at River Valley Community Church as Business Administrator for 20 years. He led Crown Ministries and served as Chaplain at Three Rivers Community Hospital, Highland House and Royal Gardens Nursing Home. In addition to his wife with whom he shared 60 years of marriage, survivors include a son, Mark (Debbie) Flickinger of Gold Hill, OR; two daughters, Robin (Jack) Clift of Spokane, WA and Lisa (Marty) Clapp of Grants Pass, OR; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Shelly Rae, siblings Dwight, Bill, Joyce and Charlotte.
