Robert “Bob” Irven Wilde, 79, passed away January 28, 2022, at Asante Three Rivers Medical Center, Grants Pass, Oregon. Bob was born September 7, 1942, to John and Alice Wilde in Yreka, California according to his birth certificate. Bob was actually born on the Siskiyou Summit and thrown into a snowbank; as his mother, father, and doctor were traveling to Grants Pass.
As a young man, Bob enlisted into the Navy, November 1960 and served until September 1964. Bob was a fuel system maintenance man serving aboard the USS Princeton. Bob spent nearly his entire service aboard the USS Princeton in Vietnam.
Following his service in the Navy, Bob met Nancy Kay Sturges and they married October 17, 1965, in California. Bob and Nancy had three daughters, Teresa, Tammy, and Tina. Bob was a long-haul truck driver for about 23 years and worked for several companies. Bob worked for Copeland Sand and Gravel in Grants Pass for 20 years until his retirement in January 2009. Nancy passed away in June 2009. Bob met Carol Machado and they married on July 27, 2011, in Grants Pass. They shared ten and a half happy years together before his passing.
Bob was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Bob found great joy in mentoring new and young hunters and fisherman, sharing with them his knowledge of the outdoors. Bob was also an instructor for Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife’s, Hunter Safety Education program, where he instructed youth in ethical hunting practices. Bob also loved to complete word puzzles, look for bargains at garage sales with Carol, hunting with his sons-in-law, attend concerts, playing Bingo at Seven Feathers Casino, and playing Bunco with his friends. Bob had a warm and generous smile and never met a stranger.
Bob is survived by his wife, Carol Machado-Wilde, his daughters Tammy and Tina, their husbands Brian and Scott, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, three stepsons Arnold Machado, Robert Machado, and Kenneth Machado, eighteen step grandchildren, and six step great grandchildren, plus one on the way, his brother Bill Wilde and his wife Cindy, sister Wanda Berens and her husband Bob, sister Ginger Robinson, sisters-in-law Donna Moody, Rita Hickman and her husband Bill, and his extended family Cliff and Sherry Wells and their son.
Bob was preceded in death by his first wife Nancy, his first daughter Teresa, and both his parents.
Bob will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. May you rest in peace until we meet again.
Arrangements were handled by Stephens Family Chapel. A “Celebration of Life,” with military honors, will be held April 2, 2022, 1:00 pm, at Calvary Crossroads Church, 1051 SE M Street, Grants Pass, Oregon, 97526.
