Sandra Lorraine Cassanelli

May 21, 1952 — August 1, 2020

Sandra “Sandi” Lorraine Cassanelli was born in Springfield, Massachusetts to Albert and Rita (Elia) Cassanelli. She graduated from Agawam High School in Agawam, MA in 1971 and then from the Florida Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology.

At 17, Sandi was already manager for all accounting for the family honing machine shop. This Sandi accumulated an impressive occupational background: Josephine County, Commissioner; Exxon Company, Merchant Marine; NOAA, Assistant Survey Technician; Upper Blackstone Water Pollution Abatement District, Laboratory Technician. Her government experience also included BOPTA and Election Board Member.

Sandi was preceded in death by her parents Rita Cassanelli and Albert (Shirley) Cassanelli, and her brother Ernest M. Cassanelli.

Sandi leaves to cherish her memory: her loving nephew Michael A. Cassanelli and sister-in-law Laura Cassanelli Smith (both of Westfield, Massachusetts); her brother Daniel (Janet) Cassanelli of Otis, Massachusetts; her nieces Taryn (Mike) Tronosky of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Lindsey (Austin) Grgurich of Groton, Connecticut, and great-nieces and nephews. And of course, her special friends in Oregon.

A graveside service will be held at Deer Creek Cemetery in Selma, Oregon at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 7th, 2020 followed by interment there as her final resting place. Friends are welcome but unfortunately relatives will be unable to attend

The flag at Josephine County Courthouse has been lowered to half mast in her honor.
