Stephen (Steve) Robert Lampert passed away December 14, 2025 at Asante Three Rivers Medical Center in Grants Pass. He was born March 1, 1960 at the Mercy Medical Center in Roseburg, Oregon to Irene Lampert-Dodge and Albert E. Lampert from Glendale, Oregon. Steve graduated from Glendale High School in Glendale, Oregon in 1978. In 1991, he married Betty Dexter, who survives him.
Steve was a man of many talents. At ten, he was repairing chainsaws and by twelve, he was helping on the neighbor's farm. He worked at the Glendale Service Station and learned mechanics, then moved on to Swanson's Mill, Greggory Mill, sold insurance for Farmers, and built houses. He became a certified optician and a member of the American Board of Certified Optometrists working for Drs. Hamada, Matti, and Walters. He also worked as a Josephine County Building Inspector until semi-retiring to build houses.
Steve also enjoyed family and friends, good food, motorcycles, playing the guitar, fishing, flying, travel, pulling pranks, pets, and other animals. Steve never met a stranger, and he was a great outdoorsman. He is preceded in passing by his parents, Irene and Albert, and his brother, Dale Lampert. He is survived by his brothers, David and Albert Lampert, his sister, Mary Mehl, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held January 5, 2026 at the St. Anne Catholic Church at 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society for research in Esophageal Cancer.
