Susan Kievit

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Susan Kievit, aged 82, who left us on May 2, 2026, in Grants Pass, Oregon. Born on May 30, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan, Susan grew up in Dearborn and graduated from Fordson High School. In 1983, she embarked on a new chapter of her life in California, eventually finding her home in Oregon.

In 1989, Susan married the love of her life, John Kievit, in San Fernando, California. Susan's career journey saw her taking on numerous roles, including working as a secretary for prominent companies like Ford Motors, CBS, General Motors, and Jet Propulsion Laboratory. She also dedicated her time and talents to her church, serving as an administrator.

Beyond her professional life, Susan found joy in various hobbies. She loved crocheting, played the flute, and devoted time to volunteering at the local hospital.

Susan is survived by her daughter, Corinne Shafer; her sons-in-law, Chris Olivares and Tyler Alexander; her grandchildren, Jennifer Olivares and Nicole Alexander; and her great-grandchildren, Hunter and Megan Olivares, and Reagan, Holly, and Waylon Alexander. She is also remembered fondly by her niece and nephew, Paul and Brenda Fink. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, her parents, Mike and Mary Sicle, and her sister, Jackie Fink.
