Robert Christopher “Bobby” Elesky of Grants Pass, Oregon died on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 following a courageous and hard-fought battle with cancer.
 
He was born in Lakewood, Ohio on December 18, 1963 and is survived by his wife, Venera Valieva-Elesky, (mother-in-law Roza Valieva and sister-in-law Djamilya Valieva) and his children, Robby (Alex) Elesky and Austin (fiancé Holly Miller) Elesky. Also surviving are his mother, Jackie Klapper (Frank), his sister Dawn Elesky, step brother Erik Klapper (Connie) and step sister Terri Hartman. He was a loving grandfather to Dominic, Conner, and Samuel Elesky of Cave Junction, Oregon. He was proceeded in death by his father, Robert Casper Elesky, his grandmother, Mildred Morton, Mildred’s spouse Foster Morton, his grandfather Ralph Zeno Eberly, his uncle David Eberly, and his uncle Ralph Eberly.
 
Bobby attended schools in Massillon, Ohio and Buckeye Joint Vocational School which was a part of Strasburg, Ohio High School.  He joined the US Army at age 17, and graduated high school in Juneau, Alaska.
 
While in the US Army he received his basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.  During his tenure in the Army he was stationed in Texas, Alaska, and served with the Multinational Peacekeeping Force in the Sinai. By the end of his service he had earned several ribbons and awards, including the Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Driver and Mechanic Badge, Sharpshooter Badge with grenade bar, and Marksman Badge with rifle bar.
 
After several years in civilian life he decided to once again serve his country and served as an independent contractor in both Afghanistan and Iraq.  It was while serving overseas he met his future wife, Venera while in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. She is now a proud citizen of the United States of America.
